PORTUGAL VENCE NA LITUÂNIA E CONFIRMA PRESENÇA NO GRUPO I EM 2021

Portugal garantiu a presença no Grupo I Mundial da Taça Davis ao vencer a Lituânia por 0-4, vitória fora de portas 7 anos depois do último triunfo na Taça Davis. 
 
Portugal iniciou esta sexta-feira a eliminatória da Taça David, o primeiro a entrar em ação foi Frederico Silva (atual 190.º no ranking ATP em singulares) venceu por 1-2 (7-6; 3-6; 0-6) o lituano Laurynas Grigelis (497.º).  
 
No 2º encontro de singulares o capitão da seleção João Sousa (65.º) teve pela frente Julius Tverijonas (791.º) e venceu por 0-2, num encontro completamente dominado pelo português, que venceu com os parciais 1-6 e 3-6.  No final do primeiro dia Portugal vence a Lituânia por 0-2. 
 
No sábado das 10 horas (hora de Lisboa) o 3º encontro desta vez em pares,  João Sousa (65.º no ranking ATP em pares) e Pedro Sousa (301.º) bateram  Laurynas Grigelis (347.º) e Lukas Mugevicius (sem classificação) por 0-2 pelos parciais de 3-6 e 1-6 e grantiram a presença de Portugal No grupo I em 2021
No último encontro que completou o play-off, ao longo do dia de sábado, Pedro Sousa defrontou Laurynas Grigelis e venceu fechando a eliminatória em 0-4.
